Overview

Advanced Clinical Practitioners work innovatively on a one to one basis with individuals as well as part of a wider team. They drive service improvements, educate others and provide consultancy services within their scope of practice. This module focuses on the knowledge and skills of the advanced practitioner to develop services and use innovative methods in practice to enable teams to challenge fundamental assumptions about current and future care delivery.

  1. To critically analyse the range of techniques available to develop service innovation in healthcare.
  2. To engage with patients, clients and communities to ensure that services are developed in partnership and are responsive and flexible.
  3. To translate evidence into practice to ensure services are of high quality and responsive to need.
  4. To lead and manage the transformation of services through the identification of high quality and effective solutions.

This module is a core module on the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice. It can be undertaken as a standalone module for those who wish to discover more about leading change in contemporary health and social care systems and wish to become more effective as a change agent.

It will help the student to develop a critical understanding of the complex dynamics of team working and the emotional and motivational side of work. The module team will place particular emphasis on the examination of issues and dilemmas in the workplace and the ‘leadership’ problems that are perennially encountered in organisations.
