Hugo Machado

Hugo, originally from Portugal, qualified as a nurse in 2014 in his home country. From the outset, he had interest in emergency care. His professional journey includes significant roles as a Firefighter and Paramedic within the Portuguese pre-hospital system. Hugo also spent two months of his early nursing career to providing care in Angola.

Subsequently, Hugo made the life-changing decision to depart from his homeland and embark on an adventure in the United Kingdom. Throughout his time in the UK, Hugo has garnered extensive experience within healthcare institutions, primarily specializing in Acute Medical settings and Accident & Emergency (A&E) departments. His passion for education has flourished over the years as he dedicated himself to the National Health Service (NHS) and took on the responsibility of supervising nursing students.

Hugo's commitment to the field of healthcare education is evident in his professional trajectory. He commenced his journey as a Clinical Skills Instructor at a university and has since advanced to the role of Lecturer in Adult Nursing. He teaches on multiples areas, such as practice skills and other modules across he undergraduate curriculum but continues to work in practice as a bank nurse at West Suffolk Hospital, where he was previously a charge nurse
