My role as an Academic Skills Advisor is to support students in building their knowledge and understanding of academic writing, referencing and study skills. As part of the Library and Learning Services team, I work with students on a one-to-one basis, deliver tailored in-course sessions and facilitate academic skills workshops.
I entered the world of academia after being in the workplace for many years so I understand how challenging it can appear; I endeavour to empower students in developing confidence in their academic abilities.
Within the University of Suffolk, my previously roles have included working with students and colleagues as a Research Assistant and Occasional Lecturer. I also have a professional background collaborating with schools, colleges and the community for Suffolk County Council in the Health, Social Care and SEND sectors.
My professional areas of interests include cultural diversity and inclusion in Education and discovering innovative methods for supporting students with specific learning needs.
