Allied Health Professions PhD Research 

Summary 

We invite applications for PhD studentships from any Allied Health Professional.  Currently Professor Ruth Strudwick and Professor Paula Kersten can supervise PhDs in this subject area. 

Ruth's research specialism(s) and skills are ethnography, qualitative research, observation, interviews and focus groups.  Her areas of interest are professional culture, interprofessional working, clinical education, person-centred care and work-place culture.  She has had experience of ethnographic and phenomenological research, using observation, surveys, focus groups and interviews. 

Studying a PhD at the University of Suffolk will allow you access to our state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, and you will be supported by a wide variety of professionals from multiple areas of Allied Health. 

Employability 

As an Allied Health Professional with a PhD, you have demonstrated that you can successfully undertake and manage a research project and have undergone research training and development.   

You can be recognised as a Consultant Practitioner within the NHS or Private Practice and within an academic setting the PhD will provide you with opportunities for career development. 

The PhD will enable you to apply for research funding and to supervise future PhD candidates.
