Our Postgraduate Computing Courses

Course Introduction

Our MSc Computer Science is designed to support your career aspirations, giving you the chance to choose your own specialisation from own of our pathways in Cyber Security, Software Engineering or Artificial Intelligence. Or create your pathway by taking the modules that interest you from any of the three pathways. 

 

Module Breakdown

You are required to take the four mandatory modules, plus three optional modules. If you wish to meet the requirements for a specialist pathway award you will need to choose the following options:

Cyber Security: Cryptography and Applications, Cyber Detection and Forensic Investigation, and Network and IoT Security.

Software Engineering: Advanced Software Engineering, HCI and User Experience, and Cloud Computing.

Artificial Intelligence: Neural Networks and Reinforcement Learning, Applied AI, and Computer Vision.

 

Fees and Scholarships

International Full-time Tuition Fee - £15,300 

As well as offering competitive tuition fees, we also have scholarships designed to support your academic aspirations. Our scholarships range from £1,000 to £4,000 and are awarded based on academic achievement.

Course Introduction

Our MSc Applied Cyber Security degree is a conversion course programme of study that trains you in a new subject and prepares you for a specific profession. This course will give you the tools and knowledge needed for a successful career in the cyber security field. Whether you have recently graduated with a non-computing degree or have experience working in the industry and are looking to retrain, our conversion MSc in Applied Cyber Security will cover a range of cyber security topics essential to any organisation of the 21st Century. Our course is one of a small number that consists entirely of Cyber Security modules, and it uniquely provides explicit training in the human side of cyber security through the study of Social Engineering. 

 

Module Breakdown

The course aligns with CyBOK standards for effective cyber security professionals, essential for future NCSC accreditation.

Early modules build foundational computing and cyber security skills, leading to advanced topics like network security, penetration testing, and more. A final dissertation fosters in-depth investigations, with progressive research skills introduced from the start.

On this course you will study the following modules: 

  • Introduction to Computing 
  • Foundations of Cyber Security 
  • Strategic and Information Security 
  • Social Engineering, OSINT and Penetration Testing 
  • Introduction to Forensics and Malware 
  • Securing the Network 
  • Dissertation (Extended Project and Research Skills)

Career Opportunities

The content of this course will provide you both with the necessary skills to join a dedicated cyber security team, or alternatively to be part of a software development team where you could be the local security expert, guiding the development and maintenance of systems and software with a strong focus on security requirements.

Local potential employment opportunities include BT, MSC, Gallagher Insurance and Willis Towers Watson, and there are many opportunities in the wider sectors based in London, which is a short commute.

The skills you will acquire on this degree are truly international in nature, and you will be well equipped to work anywhere across the globe.

 

Course Introduction

MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence is a postgraduate conversion degree. It is a partnership between us and you – we will give you the opportunities to gain deep knowledge, practical skills and meaningful expertise in data science and artificial intelligence, you bring enthusiasm, determination and a willingness to learn and make the most of the opportunities.

On the MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence degree, you will be taught the AWS Academy cloud computing curriculum by approved AWS Educators.

 

Module Breakdown

On this course you will study the following modules:

  • Python Programming for AI and Data Science 
  • SQL and NoSQL Databases
  • Data Mining and Statistical AI 
  • Deep Learning Techniques and Tools

Career Opportunities

Employer demand for people skilled in Data Science and AI is proven. The number of AI jobs in the UK listed on its online jobs board grew 485% between 2014 and 2017 according to research from the job website ‘Indeed’.

Regionally digital skills in general and Data Science in particular have been identified by employers as a priority area. The Innovation Martlesham cluster where the University of Suffolk’s new DigiTech Centre is co-located has seen growth in the number of ICT jobs from 600 in 2016 to 1200 in 2019 with 2000 jobs projected for 2024.
