Bethany Woodhead

As a junior BI Developer with Mediterranean Shipping Company, Bethany enjoys a varied role within the organisation.

She graduated from the University of Suffolk with a BSc in Digital and Technology Solutions Professional: Software Engineering Pathway and is on the Tech Industry Gold accredited programme.

Her main tasks include developing and maintaining the company’s reporting solutions; whilst interrogating and analysing data to provide key insight.

She is assisting the team in the further adoption of cloud services and exploration of new technologies and data science solutions to identify benefits for the business and  customers.

Reflecting on studying at the University of Suffolk, Bethany said she really appreciated the response in handling the impact of the pandemic and move to online learning.

“I felt supported and able to reach out for discussions with my lecturers and the University,” she said.

Her employer offers mentor support, with someone available to talk about all aspects of the apprenticeship from the start, helping her to learn from her colleagues.

Bethany’s advice to someone considering a Tech Industry Gold degree apprenticeship is to fully engage with the learning and experience and take every opportunity to get involved in the University and at work.

She has nothing but praise for the apprenticeship experience and believes apprenticeships provide an “amazing structure and support mechanisms for students which sets them up for the future”.
