Get ready to start your journey
Induction is an important first step in your student journey here with us at the University of Suffolk. We will provide you with online information and resources and detail when you should start attending in-person events on campus, and we can’t wait to meet you!
The events and activities you participate in will vary depending on your course. Detailed information about your first week’s timetable will be included in your course timetable. We will add course Start Dates as soon as they are available or, once enrolled, you can view your start date via your calendar. If you have any questions about Enrolment, check out our Enrolment FAQs.
New Starter Checklist
If you’re holding a conditional offer, make sure you send copies of your results (certificates and/or transcripts) to Admissions if they aren’t shared through UCAS. Respond quickly to any requests for additional information e.g. evidence of highest qualifications, fee assessment questionnaires, DBS forms, Occupational Health forms (Health and Social Work students) or references, to avoid any delays to your enrolment.
If you applied from abroad and are coming to the UK on a student visa, please visit our designated pages for international students.
All new students will be required to demonstrate they have sufficient Right to Study permission, or relevant exemption if you are a British or Irish national.
The information you will need, and when we will ask for the information, varies depending on your immigration permission or nationality. Our Right to Study page provides more detailed information on what you need to prepare and when you will be asked to show this.
As a new student you will be invited to join Brightspace, the online learning environment at the University of Suffolk. You can use Brightspace on your browser, but for the best experience, download the Brightspace Pulse app for Android or iOS. The Pulse app is designed to bring news, deadlines and grades together in one place and will help you to keep track of important updates.
This takes place shortly before your course starts. We will send you an email inviting you to complete enrolment online via the Applicant Area as soon as your enrolment is ready. During the enrolment process you will confirm the information we hold about you, choose your modules and tell us how your fees will be paid. If you have any questions, check out our Enrolment FAQs page.
It’s important to upload a photograph of yourself to the Applicant Area (under the Manage My Application section) before starting so your student ID card can be produced and given to you during Welcome Week. This will give you access to our buildings and specialist facilities. Your ID card will also get you those all-important student discounts!
Your course timetable will be released in the Induction module on Brightspace in late August – make sure you check the details for your Induction week. You can find more information on Timetables here.
Your Induction will focus on final preparations, an introduction to your course and modules, and a number of Students’ Union activities. Your lectures will start in the following weeks. It’s important to engage with Induction to ensure you have the information you need to get started.
We hope you are looking forward to starting with us!
