What Happens to My Application

Two student ambassadors walking on the waterfront

Applying to university can feel daunting, but it doesn't need to be. The University of Suffolk aim to deliver a seamless transition into university life. We offer a wide variety of courses, and several modes of delivery including full or part time undergraduate and postgraduate study, apprenticeships and more.

Though every course will have particular requirements, here is a general guide to what you should expect throughout your journey.

The method of applying depends on the course you are applying for. View information on how to place an application.

Following submission of your application, we encourage you to make sure you check your junk mail folder regularly and add "uos.ac.uk" to your safe senders' list. We will guide you through each step via email, and taking this action ensures you won't miss out on any communication that we send you.

If you are applying for a course with one of our partner institutions (i.e. London School of Commerce, or Global Banking School, you can expect to apply both to their chosen partner, and later, once requested by the partner institution, will be required to apply to the University of Suffolk.

We will confirm receipt of your application by email. Please take note of the username and password given in your acknowledgement email because you will use the ‘Manage my Application’ portal at multiple points leading throughout the application cycle, view your correspondence history and enrol online in this area. If you contact us we may also request your username if you call us, as it helps us to easily find your application.so we can ensure we can best support you.

Your application will be reviewed by our Admissions team, who will consider several factors, such as the quality of your personal statement, your reference(s) and whether you meet published requirements. We believe that higher education should be available to all who wish to be part of a student community, and  determining if you are eligible to receive a reduced tariff offer supports us in actively encouraging wider participation.

Though we adhere to policy so that we are fair and consistent, processes for different pathways are nuanced; your application is individual and will be treated as such. Processing can vary, for example, some international applicants can expect their application to be reviewed by admissions colleagues with specialist knowledge of international qualifications.

Several of our courses have an interview requirement. Where applicable, the date and time of your interview will show in the ‘Manage my Application’ portal. Please make sure you respond to your interview invitation so that we know to expect you. Please let the Admissions team know as soon as possible if you cannot attend the allotted date and time.

Please note, though interviews are part of the Admissions process for partner institutions, partner colleges and some higher apprenticeship courses, these are not arranged via the University of Suffolk Admissions team, and typically occur before an application form is completed.

If successful, you will receive an offer via UCAS (undergraduate) or directly via the ‘Manage my Application’ portal (postgraduate, part time study, partnerships, CPD and apprenticeships). Please ensure that you read our terms and conditions of your offer.

If you receive an offer for one of our health and professional courses, then you will have a non-academic condition of an occupational health check and a Disclosure and Barring Service check. You will be contacted by appropriate teams nearer to the course start, however you can view further information about DBS.

Once you’ve received a decision, we will guide you through the next steps, including accepting your offer. It is worth considering that several courses will have deadlines to respond.

Please read your offer email in full, as it gives clear details on how to respond.

Don’t forget to send us any relevant documents that we request from you, such as your existing education certificates.

Typically if we require something from you, we will make the request by email. To ensure you don’t miss out on any communications that we send you, please let us know if you change your contact details: Update Contact Details

International applicants will be invited to join CAS shield once you have satisfied the conditions of your offer. Further information on applying for your CAS can be found here: Apply for your CAS

Those applying to study with a partner institution are not required to send documents to the University of Suffolk team. Instead, your relevant partner will require these from you before a decision is applied.

Unconditional offer holders with all clearance checks passed will be invited to enrol prior to the course start. Enrolment is completed in the ‘Manage my Application’ portal. Please read our Enrolment FAQs for new starters

For international students the process is different. More details can be found here: Induction For International Students | University of Suffolk

GBS and LSC applicants are required to enrol with both the University of Suffolk and with their partner institution. You will receive communications from us inviting you to enrol online prior to your start date, and once completed, will also receive an email containing important information such as your student ID, intended award, and fees payable.
