Football fans and visitors to Ipswich will enjoy a new view of Ipswich Town Football Club’s Portman Road stadium as University of Suffolk branding is added to the South Stand as part of an exclusive partnership between the two organisations.
Work this summer has seen the University’s branding appear both on the rear of the stand and in prominent positions within the stadium bowl, on what will now be known as The Sir Alf Ramsey Stand in partnership with the University of Suffolk.
The partnership between Ipswich Town Football Club and the University of Suffolk was announced earlier this year with the aim of bringing together two of the county’s leading institutions to share ideas, create opportunities and to champion pride in the county.
Through the partnership, the University of Suffolk will not only have a presence throughout the Sir Alf Ramsey stand – promoting the University to club supporters and match day visitors, but will also benefit students studying at the University who will be able to access work placement opportunities across a range of skills from physiotherapy to marketing, gaining unique experience in a premier league club.
John Cavani, Director, Marketing, Communications and International, at the University of Suffolk said:
“We are excited to partner with Ipswich Town Football Club as they start their Premier League season. Our partnership provides us both with the opportunity to promote Ipswich as a place to study, visit and work, and also a chance for our students to work with sports professionals in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain skills in their chosen career path.”
Andy Wooldridge, Town’s Commercial Director, said. “To have an institution so important to life in Suffolk on a stand at Portman Road is something everyone at the Club is extremely proud of.
“Since we partnered with the University of Suffolk in February the relationship has gone from strength to strength and we are delighted we have now been able to move the partnership to the next level ahead of the start of the Premier League season.”
