Maria Marrinan is Senior Lecturer in Social Work.
Maria's career has included working in children's services, working as a children's guardian and as a manager within Cafcass. Maria has also worked as an independent social worker.
Maria was end point assessor for the social work degree apprentices in 2022 and 2023; and it is this first experience of working with the UOS which spurred her on to work as a lecturer at the university.

Maria was a social work Practice Educator for many years and has delivered workshops and training to student social workers, social workers and children's guardians.
Maria has completed a Master's Award in Advanced Social Work Practice and is completing an MSC in psychology.

For her Masters in Advanced social work practice, Maria completed a
study entitled 'The impact of childhood sexual abuse on the survivor's parenting capacity'.
This is one of her research interests, along with social work practice in private law and working with parental conflict.
