Luca Braccia

Originally from Italy, Luca is a London-based portfolio dance artist and academic with years of international experience in performance, education, and choreography.
Currently, he is a Module Leader and Lecturer in Reflective Practice for the L6 Diploma in
Dance Pedagogy at the Imperial Society of Teachers Dancing. He also works as a Contemporary Dance Technique and Choreography Tutor for the L6 Diploma in Ballet and Dance Performance and the Trainees Programme at the English National Ballet School. Besides, he is a Creative Tutor at DanceEast’s Centre for Advanced Training in Ipswich.
Since 2015, he has directed BARBERDANCE / lucabraccia&Co, delivering learning, engagement and performance activities in China, Italy, Portugal, and the UK. Since 2021, he has worked with The Remarkable Dance Company (over 50s) based at The Mill Arts Centre in Banbury, where he was appointed Artistic Director in 2023.
Luca has worked with individuals of various ages and experiences in a wide range of contexts. His teaching portfolio includes Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London Contemporary Dance School, National Dance Academy of Rome, DanceEast, DanceCity, DanceXchange, TripSpace, The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, The Scottish School of Contemporary Dance, Newcastle College, Northumbria University, and University of Arts London.
Between 2019 and 2023, he was Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for the first UK's 2-year accelerated BA (Hons) in Dance at the University of Suffolk, delivered in partnership with DanceEast, in Ipswich.
In 2014, he graduated from Accademia Nazionale di Danza with a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance and, successively, with an MFA in Contemporary Dance Teaching and Education. In 2017, he obtained the Postgraduate Diploma in Performance from
London Contemporary Dance School (validated by University of Kent), and the Erasmus+ Traineeship Certificate from The Place. In 2023, he obtained the Postgraduate Certificate in Arts Teaching and Learning in the Higher Education from the Northern School of
Contemporary Dance (validated by University of Kent). Luca took part in the CPD programme ‘Preparing to Teach) at Trinity Laban, leading to becoming an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (now AdvanceHE). Furthermore, since 2018, he regularly attends intensive workshops led by world-renowned artist and pedagogue, David Zambrano.
As a result of his postgraduate research project ‘ProAction Training’, Luca promotes lifelong education and development opportunities for the professional dance community. Since 2019, with Leila McMillan and Julia Testa, he has hosted and curated the first-ever series of Flying Low and Passing Through sessions in the UK at Studio Wayne McGregor.
