Julene is a highly motivated, GDC registered Dental Hygienist with over a decade of clinical experience including five years as a clinical educator in a BSc. Dental Hygiene university programme. She is committed to mentoring and educating the next generation of dental professionals while promoting the importance oral health care in achieving good overall/ general health.

She is passionate about community outreach, having orchestrated several community outreaches across Jamaica in her capacity as Director and Secretary for the Dental Hygienists' Association of Jamaica. Julene continues this passion through her affiliation with a UK women's ministry and charity as Head of Marketing and Brand Awareness, providing outreach to women in Africa affected by forced marriages and female genital mutilation (FGM). Julene views clinical outreach (both locally and internationally) as essential to student development and will seek to incorporate this within her role at University of Suffolk.

Julene was called to join faculty in 2014 as clinical educator at the University of Technology in Jamaica, shortly after completing her BSc. studies with first class honours, having made the Dean's list every academic year. In her 5 years as clinical educator, Julene also completed a certification in orthodontic therapy, which she incorporates in her teaching.

For the current block, Julene will be teaching Clinical Skills Development.

Julene is a founding member, Director and former General Secretary for the Dental Hygienists' Association of Jamaica. Her involvement included coordinating community outreaches as well as networking with government officials to provide access to oral health care services for persons in rural Jamaica.

 

Julene is member of the General Dental Council.
