Dr Amir Pakravan

Dr Pakravan is a Consultant in Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine, a Fellow of the UK Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine, and a Fellow of the Ireland Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine. He is the Chief Medical Officer to the British Basketball League and the Women’s British Basketball League, Consultant Club Doctor to Crystal Palace FC in the English Premier League, and Consultant Club Doctor to the London Lions Basketball Club, also playing in the EuroCup.
His extensive past experience of work within elite sports includes Medical Team Leader during the London Olympic and Paralympic Games, Event Doctor for the NBA Europe games in London and Paris, event Medical Director for the Taekwondo Grand Prix and the Hockey World League semi-finals, and Itinerant Doctor to the Football Association.
Dr Pakravan is the Vice General Secretary of the European College of Sport and Exercise Physicians (ECOSEP), Chair of the ECOSEP Physical Activity Committee and the College representative in the World Health Organisation’s HEPA Europe. He has a keen interest in promoting physical activity and was medical advisor to Public Health Suffolk and Suffolk County Council for Suffolk Cycle Strategy.
Dr Pakravan has a number of publications in reputable journals and lectures extensively on Sports Medicine topics both nationally and internationally.
His professional and academic interests include musculoskeletal medicine, basketball medicine, football medicine, team medicine, event and pre-hospital medical care, elite sports, exercise medicine and enhancing population health through promoting physical activity.
