Stephen is a Visiting Senior Fellow in the Suffolk Sustainability Institute. An experienced Marine Sciences Professional within the Nuclear Power Sector, Stephen leads the Marine Environment Team at Sizewell C Limited and is responsible for specifying and managing all of the marine assessments and consents necessary for the new nuclear power plant at Sizewell.

Having started his marine career in research, specialising in estuarine crustaceans and how they interact with their highly dynamic environment changeable environment, Stephen progressed to developing and managing marine science areas within a regulatory role at the Environment Agency before moving to developing and managing assessments required for Nuclear New Build at EDF Energy. Having roles in the research, regulatory and developer sectors has provided 20 years’ experience in using good science to underpin proportionate and pragmatic management of the marine environment.

Stephen has published multiple peer reviewed papers across a broad range of marine disciplines, most noticeably in the areas of Marine Ecophysiology, Marine Ecotoxicology as well as Environmental Engineering.
