Isobel is a Research Assistant in the Directorate of Learning and Teaching at the University of Suffolk. Her experience includes research in the not-for-profit sector for a wide range of charities and funders, using findings to inform organisational strategy and service provision. During her time at university, Isobel conducted research into female university students’ experiences of safety in the night-time economy and its impact on wellbeing. She also assisted an evaluation of a piloted buddying scheme for postgraduate students at Nottingham Trent University.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Isobel led an investigation into student mental wellbeing at Anglia Ruskin University, where she identified at-risk students and provided actionable recommendations to the university to improve overall wellbeing. Here she developed a passion for amplifying student voices, particularly those from underrepresented and minority groups. Isobel is supporting the implementation and evaluation of the University of Suffolk Access and Participation Plan (APP), working with colleagues across the institution to reduce gaps in inequalities related to access, continuation, success, and progression of students.
