Stephen Welfare is a Visiting Professor of Workforce and Leadership.

Stephen is a Director of his own consultancy with local, national, and international clients in health, education and social care, specialising in leadership, OD and workforce. He is a former NHS National and Regional Director having previously held a number of other Board positions, including as a Chief Executive.

He has been a Strategic Advisor to a number of national organisations and held honorary appointments including as a Visiting Professor at the Universities of Essex and Pavia in Italy. He was the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement award from his professional body and been awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Anglia Ruskin University. In addition to being the Chair of the ICA he is an experienced Councillor, Governor, Trustee and former national Ambassador with the Princes Trust.

He lives in Hartest, Suffolk, and is married with two adult children.
