English Online Webinar: Forensic Linguistics
How can we apply our knowledge of language to the real world? What are the implications of language structure to show intent? This workshop, delivered by Jenny Amos, looks at how the scientific analysis of language works in the real world by considering issues such as language use as admissible evidence in court (the status of the so-called 'ear-witness'), using language to determine immigration status, and examples of cases in terrorism threats. Students will get the chance to discuss their own observations of data and discuss the wider implications of language analysis.
